Innovations in Natural Polymer Science for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security

This symposium is part of the effort on building the ACS Convergent Chemistry Community on Natural Polymers  ACS NP CCC among technical divisions of POLY, PMSE, AGFD, CARB and ENVR.

This will be a ACS Presidential Symposium in ACS Fall 2025 Conference

This symposium will showcase the critical role of natural polymers in advancing sustainable practices across agriculture and food systems.  Presentations will cover the latest innovations in biopolymer extraction from renewable sources, particularly agricultural residues, and employing green and solvent-free processes to enhance polymer functionality. The session will also focus on the chemical and structural modifications of these biopolymers for diverse applications, such as food structuring, 3D-printed, biodegradable packaging, advanced delivery systems and so on. By integrating cutting-edge green technologies with eco-friendly material design, this symposium will highlight how natural polymers are driving sustainability and innovation in agriculture and food, while supporting the transition towards a circular bioeconomy.
